Merry Christmas to me!

I just found out that I am going to be a judge for the MN Book Awards, in the Children's Literature area.  Fits me well since I work in that area among others.  Thought I would share with those of you who stop by, not sure who you are, but I know there, you're watching aren't you.  Well, anyways, wanted to share, looking forward to being a part of it and I actually impressed myself.  I figured my odds were about as good as winning publishers clearing house, I know that ain't happening, so this rocks for me.

Merry Christmas to everyone, have a great holidays.

Family

Why is it that parents feel they can still guilt there kids about stupid little things when they adults and have their own lives?    Enough already, if you're angry at me fine, be angry, but don't pull this little kid shit of pouting, I don't need or care for it. I know parents get upset with their kids when we do things our own way, not sure why, but I see it.  Thing is, let it go already, even worse is when they become their parents and pull the same shit that theirs did on them on you.

Why is it that even if we don't like a family member we will go to a funeral for somebody that died or go see them for the holidays, makes no sense. As I have said before, I fall in the neither forgive or forget category, I remember if you do me wrong and I plan my vengenace carefully.  Some say this is bad, I say it is impressive, most people give in, that is what you are truly doing when we give in to the guilt trips,. I won't lie, I've given in, we all have, nobody can argue that, but at some damn point it needs to stop.  I'm sick of explaining myself everytime I disagree, I can do that you know, you don't like it tough shit, go away then.

I won't get into siblings, one I have nothing but love and the other pulls shit left and right and everyone is suppose to let it slide.  Plus, the post would be pretty damn long if I keep going.

Crazy!

It's crazy how Christmas is so close and I am thinking of camping and 90 degree days with a smile.

I've also just realized that I am on my 7th or 8th novel in about 3 1/2 weeks, I didn't know I could read that much so quick, let alone find books that were going to keep my interest.  I'd still like to know what people are thinking for resolutions, does anyone do thsoe anymore?  Anyone actually made a claim of, I am going/not going to do etc.  and follwed through?

Talking with my wife today I have realized she needs to get out of her present job, it's a mind sucking job that offers no rewards and stinks.

I am starting to think that MN is wearing on me, I have a great job that anyone would love to have, I probably have one of the best work schedules around, make your own, but the money hasn't come in yet like I would like it to.  That's where the dilema starts, do I quit something I love, something my wife even thinks will payoff in the next year or so, it takes 3-5 years to become comfortable financially, or do I hang in there and continue to be paycheck to paycheck?  Part of this comes from the fact that she needs to do something different, she cannot do another christmas schedule in retail, she'll lose it and I don't want her to take out one of the many stupid customers, well actually I do, but the lawsuit would suck.

I have 2-3 business ideas, which is great, most cannot even say they have 1.  Problems:

Who knows what will happen, all I know is that I've learned working for yourself is the way to go, not for someone else who tells you when to be there and how to do it.  The freedom I have is great, I wouldn't want to work for someone in the capacity of being a subordinate, I hate the word and the corporate bullshit it represents.

Less than a week to Christmas

Here I am sitting and looking out my window at the cars, the weather and everyone coming and going.  It makes me appreciate many things, but the strange thing is that every year that we don't have a lot of snow I get annoyed.  I think what happens is that when we have a lot of snow early on I get excited, makes the holidays more festive.  When we get more in say, February I get annoyed, I think it is either the spring fever or the sun worshiper in myself.  Either way I find it interesting how people's attitudes change, the week after christmas they go back to their self-loathing and bitchy selves, not everyone, but most.

So here's a question for everyone.  Any New Years resolutions or just simply things you plan on changing or doing differently this next year, 2004?

Christmas Party!!

Ok, let me start right off by saying that we had one of the bet parties this year.  It was actually a truly fun time had by all, I've never seen some of the people that came laugh as hard and stay as long as many of them did.  It went until close to 3 in the morning, and the thing started at 7pm.  Buddha & Mira showed early and helped with some food prep., did an exchange of some gifts and I must say, Truth or Dare Jenga is one hell of a fun game, even more so when everyone is feeling no pain.  Rath (until we come up with a better nickname) & Slick, came along a little earlier and things started right away after another set of friends came.  The food was a hit, we had to remind slick that he did eat half of the pickle rollups the past 2 years at the party, he says he doesn't like pickles, were all a tad confused. Then Slim came along, she had a great time until around midnight or so, I believe, something dirupted the happiness and she bolted out of our place like a woman on a mission to kill people.  I talked to her the next day when she called to apologize and explain somewhat why she did bolt, she apologized to the wife, for she bolted because she was mad apparently about something my wife said.  It came down to it that a lot of alcohol and some other things, stress and various others were getting to her and she basically just lost it.  All is well, she'll still be around for things, were not the kind to of people to not involve you because of something, well at least if you have a good reason we won't.  Everyone interacted well, which I think is great, I think we managed to make Mira feel welcome, I know it is always hard to come into a group not knowing anyone and try and have a good time, but I know by the end of the night the girl was nonstop talking, see what advantages liquor consumption does have, makes ya social.  Nobody told me it sucked, which is good to hear, and I have yet to hear anything about a certain escapade involving a neighbors car or an air matress, hey, we have to mess with you when we can (by the way, slick, you passed out the minute you hit the pillow, way to stay awake though past others).

All in all it was a great time, many photos were taken, I may even have the photo for next years invitation, we'll see how it works and if it'll work.  I want to thank everyone for coming, I had a great time and I hope everyone else did as well.  If you have photos from the party and want to share or want to share your thoughts on the night let me know.  Everyone have a great christmas and enjoy the holidays.

Midnighter
You are The Midnighter.

The Midnighter was a secret product of the labs of
Henry Bendix, part of his Stormwatch
"Academy" program, the members of
whom were duped into becoming Bednix's personal
Stormwatch team. One of many individuals given
superpowers by that ruthless personage, he lost
his original identity in the process. He was
transformed into "Night's Bringer of
War", a living weapon designed to
"hit thing's until they don't work
anymore. The Midnighter automatically analyses
every situation he is in as a combat scenario,
his computerised senses instantaneously
checking out multiple battle strategies until
he has located the best one to win the fight at
minimal effort. To aid him in the actual fight
he has heightened reflexes and strength, and a
superb knowledge of most forms of combat.

Christmas Party!

This is one of the few things I look forward to throughout the year with great enthusiasm.  Every December we throw a Christmas Party for our close friends and those we don't see as often.  It's a great event, sometimes we go tubing, if the snow ever shows up, then again we have had injuries from that, damn kids.  What's nice is that everyone who shows up, for the most part, has a great time, they relax and just enjoy the food and atmosphere.  Usually, we even end up with some nice stories to share with everyone, that's where the fun really begins.  So to everyone this Christmas, have a Happy Holidays and enjoy family, friends and the season itself, because it truly is the best time of the year.  Well, at least until it hits sunny and 85 and I am rolling in the Jeep with the top down.

Question:

Does anybody find a valuable reason to watch Paris Hilton & Lionel Richies daughter on a farm?  First off, can we say woof, I mean seriously, we all know Paris is a skanky little rich bitch, the funny thing is she talks about it like it's her money.  Sorry sweetheart, it's called an inheritance, your daddy is loaded not you.  Why is it that people get fascinated with this bullshit, it annoys the hell out of me when I hear one of them crying about some video tape or some other past thing that's come out, you dumbass, you didn't think that would happen?  Come on, were an opportunistic society, we have a chance to screw someone over we sure the hell will.  Damn it's annoying.
